适用于MCU的低功耗、高精度RC振荡电路

摘要: 随着物联网、智能家居等行业的发展,对低功耗微控制单元(MCU)产品的需求日益增加。针对低功耗MCU产品的要求,提出了一种可降压、频率可调、低功耗、高精度的16 MHz RC振荡电路。利用CMOS亚阈值区工作特性设计电路,有效地减小了工作电流。MCU低功耗设计大多支持降压操作,为保证降低工作电压时振荡电路输出频率的精度,内置低功耗、低压差线性稳压器(LDO)为RC振荡电路提供稳定的工作电压。此外,因工艺、温度、电压以及寄生效应其实际输出频率偏差较大,RC震荡电路配备了8位调频控制位,可通过调频控制位调回理想频率。该电路基于0.11 μm CMOS工艺进行设计,使用Cadence Spectre对电路进行仿真,仿真结果显示,工作电压在1.6~3.6 V的范围内变化,振荡电路输出频率的精度偏差范围为-0.48%~+0.2%,温度在-40~85范围内变化,其输出频率的精度偏差范围为-0.24%~+0.18%,稳定工作后其总电流为82.2 μA,功耗最低仅为131.5 μW,频率可调范围为-32.84%~+33.47%。仿真结果表明该RC振荡电路具有低功耗、高精度、频率可调等优点,非常适合集成于低功耗MCU芯片之内。

Abstract: With the development of the internet of things, smart home and other industries, the demand for low-power micro-control unit (MCU) products is increasing. A step-down voltage, adjustable frequency, low-power, high-precision 16 MHz RC oscillator circuit is proposed for low-power MCU product requirements. The circuit is designed with the operating characteristics of the CMOS sub-threshold region, which effectively reduces the operating current; MCU low-power designs mostly support step-down operation. In order to ensure the accuracy of the output frequency of the oscillation circuit when the operating voltage is reduced, the built-in low power consumption and low dropout regulator (LDO) provides a stable operating voltage for the RC oscillator circuit. In addition, due to the process, temperature, voltage and parasitic effects, the actual output frequency deviation is large, the RC oscillator circuit is equipped with 8-bit FM control bit, which can be controlled by the FM control bit to recall the ideal frequency. The circuit is designed based on the 0.11 μm CMOS process, and the circuit is simulated using Cadence Spectre. The simulation results are as follows: the operating voltage varies from 1.6 V to 3.6 V, and the accuracy deviation of the output frequency of the oscillation circuit is from -0.48% to +0.2 %, the temperature changes within the range of -40-85 ℃, the accuracy deviation of the output frequency is -0.24%-+0.18%, after stable operation, the total current is 82.2 μA, the minimum power consumption is only 131.5 μW, and the frequency is adjustable within -32.84%-+33.47%. Simulation results show that the RC oscillator circuit is very suitable for integration into low-power MCU chips due to its advantages of low power consumption, high precision, and adjustable frequency.
